Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes Manchester United’s Anthony Martial could double his value in the next two years.
The announcement that Man United had signed Martial in a deal worth at least £36m raised some eyebrows on deadline day.
However, the Frenchman has silenced his critics in some style by scoring four goals in his first four appearances for United.
Wright insisted United are “having the last laugh” following criticism of the fee they paid for Martial.
“Martial’s goals record in France was hardly special with 8 in 31 games,” said Wright.
“But United are having the last laugh with a piece of business so shrewd that I believe Martial’s value will double in the next two years.”
While Martial has undoubtedly made an excellent start to life at Old Trafford, it is important not to place too much pressure on him too early. His good run will not last forever and Louis van Gaal’s guidance will play a big part in how the 19-year-old develops in this crucial stage in his career.
