Anthony Martial was all smiles in training with Manchester United today ahead of tomorrow’s clash against Sunderland.
The 19-year-old is now the centre of attention for Man United in attack as with four goals in his first four appearances, he has blown away all expectations and is now on the edge of setting a record with the club.
If Martial nets a goal tomorrow, he’ll become the first United player to score in his first three Premier League appearances for United. While not a major record by any stretch of the imagination, it’s telling that nobody has ever scored in their first three consecutive league appearances for the club because it’s extremely hard to do.
Yet, Martial makes goalscoring look like art. It’s been all too easy for him so for in front of goal and fans are hoping the game against Sunderland tomorrow is much of the same.
There is no pressure on Martial tomorrow apart from the pressure he has put on himself but unlike so many others before him, he looks like he has all the attributes and attitude to take advantage of that and not let it become a burden.
Wes Brown and John O’Shea might have called Old Trafford the Theatre of Dreams during their playing career at United but they’ll be having nightmares at the idea of stopping Martial, a man who is only growing in confidence with every minute he plays.
