Dick Advocaat: Sunderland will give Manchester United a ‘really tough time’

Sunderland manager Dick Advocaat has insisted that his side will give Manchester United a “really tough time” when the two sides meet this weekend.

Sunderland are currently bottom of the Premier League having failed to pick up a win in their first six games.

Meanwhile, Man United are second in the table following impressive wins against Southampton and Liverpool.

Despite the league standings, Advocaat believes there is no reason why Sunderland cannot take a positive result away from Old Trafford on Saturday.

“Normally United would beat us but we can give them a really tough time. That will happen, you will see,” said Advocaat, who conceded that a draw would be “a great result”.

“You have nothing to lose against United and if we are well organised, and try to hurt them a bit, then why not? Against City we created three or four chances and a little bit the same against Spurs. We will have opportunities to score.”

On paper, United should cruise past Sunderland but it very rarely works that way in the Premier League. Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been on the wrong end of shock results so far this term and Louis van Gaal will undoubtedly warn against complacency when his side take on Sunderland.
