Manchester United’s James Wilson has been chosen by Lionel Messi as a young talent to watch.
Barcelona forward Messi, as part of a campaign for Adidas, has backed ten prospects to succeed as they begin their careers at their respective clubs.
Wilson is on the list along with players such as Khiry Shelton, Gyasi Zardes, Jeremie Boga, Maxwel Cornet and Timo Werner.
Wilson will film himself as he continues his development at Old Trafford and the videos will be posted on Adidas’ YouTube channel.
The Englishman signed a new contract at United this week and is held in high regard by coaches and supporters at the club.
To receive a stamp of approval from Messi is an honour as far as Wilson is concerned. The Argentine has won practically everything there is to win and is widely regarded to be one of the best players to have ever played the game. It will be interesting to see how Wilson develops at United along with the club’s other talented youngsters such as Anthony Martial and Andreas Pereira.
