Manchester United striker Anthony Martial put in a fantastic performance to help the Reds to a 3-0 win over Sunderland.
The Frenchman started his second league game in a row up front with Wayne Rooney behind him and the pair linked up at the start of the second half to double Man United’s lead. Martial beat his man inside the box before squaring to Rooney, who finally ended his long goal drought.
The 19-year-old provided everything a team would want from their No.9. Martial held up the ball well and helped bring everyone around him into play. The likes of Juan Mata, Memphis Depay and Rooney were all brought into the game by Martial’s hold up play and he was always an option for them when they were on the ball.
The former Monaco man constantly made runs in behind the Sunderland defence and did everything but score on a day when United went top of the Premier League table.
Martial has been a revelation since he signed for the Reds on transfer deadline day, with four goals in five games. Despite not getting on the scoresheet against the Black Cats, it was arguably the youngsters best performance since arriving at Old Trafford.
He will hope to keep his spot in the team for the visit of Wolfsburg on Wednesday and will want the opportunity to open his Champions League account for United.
