Manchester United’s on-loan midfielder Ben Pearson scored a wonderful goal for Barnsley at the weekend.
The 20-year-old hit a fierce first-time drive from the edge of the box and the goalkeeper could only stand on and watch as Pearson’s shot rifled into the bottom corner.
For a player who drew so many comparisons to Paul Scholes during his time with Man United’s U21s because of his tenacious style of play, it seems apt that Pearson scored a goal which United fans saw so many times from the ginger genius over the years.
Pearson has been enjoying a successful loan spell at Barnsley in his second stint at the club and is making a great impression on both the fans and Barnsley’s coaching staff.
Lauded as one of the best tenacious midfielders that United’s academy has produced in recent years, followers of the U21s have always been keen to see Pearson get an opportunity with the first-team and all he can do to earn it is impress on loan, so scoring cracking goals like this will certainly help his case.
