Both players know how important it is for Man United to get three points after the disappointing loss to PSV Eindhoven in the first leg and Arsenal’s surprise defeat to Olympiacos has shown them first-hand how underestimating an opponent can be a fatal error.
Schweinsteiger and De Gea are more than likely going to start and so they should. De Gea is United’s undisputed No.1 and unless he is injured, there shouldn’t be anybody else playing in goal for us this season.
As for Schweinsteiger, he is arguably going to be United’s most important player against Wolfsburg. Not only because of his influence on the pitch and leadership qualities but the fact he knows the German side far better than anybody else. They’re familiar opposition to him and that’s a great asset for United on the night.

When he wasn’t a United player and I use to say how much I’d love to see Schweinsteiger play for the club, I couldn’t ever have imagined it would be this wonderful so quickly.
It’s just his all-round effect on everything. Now United have a true leader in midfield, somebody players can turn to and know they’ll get the answer they’re looking for – that sort of player has been missing for too long at Old Trafford.
Wolfsburg are no pushover and Wednesday is going to be a tough game but with the home advantage and the quality of players we’ve got in the side, we should come away with three points if we play well.
