Arsene Wenger has confirmed Laurent Koscielny went off with a hamstring injury in Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat to Olympiacos.
The Arsenal defender slid in for a tackle and overstretched his hamstring which has now left him as a major doubt for the Manchester United game on Sunday.
Speaking after Arsenal’s loss, Wenger said: “It is a hamstring. This is why I rotate as we play many games. The other teams do it as well. You look at the other teams in Europe’s benches and you will see them rotate.
“You cannot play every three days without rotating your players That is a fact and you have to accept that.”
Arsenal fans consider Koscielny as one of their best defenders so it will be advantage United if he is ruled out of the game on Sunday. Per Mertesacker would step in if the Frenchman misses the game and the likes of Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial‘s pace could cause him all sorts of problems.
Sunday is going to be fantastic game and United will go into it full of confidence if they can overcome a tricky tie against Wolfsburg and head to the Emirates off the back of an important win.
