Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has been named in UEFA’s Champions League Team of the Week.
Mata was Man United’s Man of the Match as Louis van Gaal’s side triumphed 2-1 over Wolfsburg on Wednesday in a crucial encounter at Old Trafford. The Spaniard scored United’s equaliser from the penalty spot before providing an outrageous assist for Chris Smalling to score the winner.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form for United recently and he continued his good run against the German side with a clinical performance.
Starting on the right wing, Mata and Anthony Martial struck up a good understanding and wreaked havoc for the Wolfsburg defence.

The former Chelsea man was the difference between the two sides as he created chance after chance for himself and his teammates.
It was a performance that United fans have come to expect from the midfielder since his move from London. Since signing for David Moyes, Mata has become one of United’s most important and consistent players and seems to be thoroughly enjoying his football.
He will want to carry his good run of form into the league and help United stay top of the Premier League after they visit Arsenal on Sunday. It is a huge clash and Mata will know that he needs to be on top of his game to help United come away with three points and remain at the top of the table.
