Anthony Martial has been nominated as Manchester United’s Player of the Month for September.
It is the second award Martial is up for having also been named on a short-list for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award.
The 19-year-old Frenchman was in scintillating form right from his debut against Liverpool and finished the month with four goals and an assist in six games. Right now, he’s far exceeded any expectations of him at this stage and has created a real buzz around himself in a very short space of time.
Going into the Arsenal game on Sunday, there isn’t much doubt as to who Man United’s danger man is and that’s a testament to how well he has done in such a short space of time.
Usually with Player of the Month awards there is one stand-out candidate but this time around there are three players who could all fairly win the award. That’s credit to well United are currently playing as a team, rather than any individual spark on its own.
It doesn’t matter whether Martial wins any award or not, the mere fact he has been nominated is more than good enough in these initial stages of his career in Manchester.
