Van Gaal: Manchester United can maintain top spot

by Sid Choudhary

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is confident his side can maintain top spot in the Premier League after their game against Arsenal.

Man United travel to the Emirates Stadium as league leaders and are three points ahead of their opponents going into the game. The Reds ended a gameweek at the summit for the first time in more than two years and van Gaalis not willing to give that up easily.

The manager is looking forward to the game, insisting that a win can help galvanise his players and really set them on their way to a title charge. United recorded their first away win under van Gaal at the Emirates Stadium last season and a repeat performance would be a massive boost.

When asked if his side could keep their top spot, van Gaal said: “I think you have to believe always in this”

“I think the balance in our selection is much better than last year and last year we also had the chance, so I believe in that.”

The Dutchman is counting on his players to realise the importance of the game and just how big an impact a win could have on the rest of the season.

Van Gaal added: “But the most important thing is not only that I believe, but that the players are believing in that, and when we win at Arsenal, then the belief shall raise a lot.”

Despite being top of the pile, United fans are trying to remain composed about their sides chances in terms of winning the league. It is still early days but the early signs are encouraging for supporters.

A win against Arsenal would really get them thinking and it could mean United are well in the hunt for the league title come the end of the season.
