Manchester United’s Anthony Martial has been named the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for August/September.
The Frenchman scored on his Man United debut against Liverpool and followed it up with two more goals away at Southampton in the next Premier League game and it’s a richly deserved award.
His electric start at United took everybody by surprise but only a few more games but what has been most impressive about Martial is the consistency of his performances and the fact he still looks very good even when he doesn’t get on the score sheet.
Martial will be delighted with how he started but his unassuming nature means he won’t be distracted by any awards, praise or criticism aimed towards him – he’ll simply be focused on his own football and that sort of mindset is a rarity for a teenager.
It’s still early doors for Martial and at some point this season he will go through a dip in form but fans are all hoping he’ll be able to come back after the international break and continue where he left off against Everton in United’s next game.
Congratulations to Anthony for the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award, one that is likely to be the first of many in his United career.
