Manchester United’s Daley Blind has revealed he is “most comfortable” while playing at centre-back but that he will play anywhere he is asked for the team.
Blind has built a reputation as a versatile player since his arrival at Man United last summer.
Blind insisted he can be “of value” in any position at United.
“Of course, now I feel most comfortable in the centre-back position. There I play every week at Manchester United and I feel good. [But] I’m available anywhere,” he said.
“It’s not too difficult to play at left-back again, or as a central defender or a midfielder. I know I can be an important link for the team. That’s what I’ve shown in lots of games. I can be of value in any position.”
All great sides are built on players such as Blind, who take up unusual or unfamiliar positions with a minimum of fuss for the good of the team. The 25-year-old hasn’t once complained about his situation and has instead grabbed the opportunity with both hands and impressed. Phil Jones’ return may shake things up a little bit but Blind will be hoping to keep his place in the starting XI following the international break.
