Anthony Martial has won Manchester United’s Goal of the Month competition for his strike against Liverpool in September.
Coming off the bench to make his debut for Man United, Martial beat several Liverpool defenders before slotting calmly into the net.
It was a memorable strike and a sweet one for United supporters, especially given the flak that the youngster received after the club paid £36m for him on deadline day.
Since then, Martial has gone from strength to strength at Old Trafford. The Frenchman has put in a number of assured and confident displays which have belied his years.
As well as Goal of the Month, Martial was named PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for September as well. Both of those awards are a testament to how well he did in his first month at the club.
Martial has also been impressing on international duty as he registered a assist for Karim Benzema in France’s friendly against Algeria this week. He will be hoping to continue his excellent form when United take on Everton after the international break.
