Anthony Martial‘s first coach, Armand Garrido, has backed his former player to “do something big” at Manchester United next season.
Martial moved from Lyon to Monaco before becoming the most expensive teenager in football history when he signed for Man United on transfer deadline day.
The Frenchman has been a revelation since making the move to England, scoring four goals in his first four games and being arguably United’s best player since his arrival.
The 19-year-old was expected to be a bit-part player after his move from Monaco but he has proven his worth time and again since arriving at Old Trafford and is quickly becoming a key part of the squad. However, Garrido is urging United fans to remain patient and he is confident that the youngster will achieve great things if he is given time.
Garrido said: “Anthony will succeed if he is allowed time to do so.
“A lot of things will happen to him. He will have to deal with them, understand the club, learn English, earn his place in the side. This does not happen overnight. I would expect him to do something big next season.”
Martial has quickly turned into a fans’ favourite amongst United supporters after his stunning solo goal on his debut against Liverpool. The goal saw the striker announce himself on the world stage and he has continued to put in some stellar displays since.
Still only 19, it is obvious that Martial can grow into a hugely important player for United. It is key that everyone at the club gives him time to settle in and adapt fully to the Premier League but the early signs are encouraging and it is tough for fans to keep their excitement in check.
