Memphis Depay helps Netherlands secure crucial win over Kazakhstan in Euro 2016 qualifier

Memphis Depay started for Netherlands on Saturday night in their crucial Euro 2016 qualifier against Kazakhstan.

Netherlands secured a 2-1 win which means their chances of qualifying for the European Championships next summer are still alive but they still have to rely on Turkey or Iceland to drop points in their remaining games.

Playing at left wing in a 4-3-3 formation, Memphis put in plenty of crosses but there were questions about the quality of his final product over the course of 90 minutes.

Here’s what a few fans had to say about his performance:

Memphis hasn’t hit the dizzy heights of a blistering start in the same fashion as Anthony Martial and although fans will not put any pressure on him to start scoring every right right now, he’ll be putting that pressure on himself.

He wants to be the best and lead by example which he isn’t doing at the moment and it was worrying to see how poor he was away at Arsenal last weekend. However, he’s still got plenty of time on his hands and a manager who believes in him, so there’s a lot of opportunity for him left this season.
