Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is confident his side can go on and win multiple trophies this season.
Martial signed for Man United on transfer deadline day from Monaco, becoming the most expensive teenager in football history in the process. The 19-year-old has had a brilliant start to life at Old Trafford, scoring four goals in his first four appearances and putting in some eye-catching performances.
United currently lie third in the Premier League, two points off Manchester City in top spot. The Reds lost their place at the summit of the league when they lost 3-0 to Arsenal but Martial is remaining optimistic about United’s chances this season.
“I think we can win the Premier League and the Champions League this season. Both of them. We are among the top five clubs [in Europe],” Martial told French TV.
It is a huge claim from Martial but if he continues his good form there is no reason United can’t go on to win silverware this season. The Frenchman has transformed the Reds attacking play, providing an attacking point in the final third who is always looking to get in behind defences. Martial is thoroughly enjoying life at Old Trafford thus far.
He added: “It is going well so far. I have had a great welcome from the fans. I don’t think about my price on the pitch.
“The goal against Liverpool, the big enemy of the club, allowed the fans to get to know me a bit better.”
The striker’s goal at the Stretford End against Liverpool on his debut was the sort of thing that every United fan dreams of and it immediately made him a household name. He has gone from strength to strength since his debut and if he can carry on improving, there is no reason why United can’t go on to lift a trophy this year.
