Manchester United target Thomas Muller admits Premier League wages are tempting

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has admitted that the astronomical wages in the Premier League make a move to England more ‘tempting.’

Muller was linked with a move to Manchester United throughout the transfer window before it became clear that the German champions had no intention of selling their prized asset. However, the World Cup winner has now revealed that the money involved in football in the Premier League makes it a more appealing proposition.

Man United were reportedly extremely interested in bringing Muller to Old Trafford but many fans thought it was a transfer that seemed beyond the realms of possibility. The striker’s comments paint a different story as it now seems as if Muller was more open to a move than previously thought.

“In the end, we should not forget that playing football is our job,” Muller told Welt am Sonntag.

“So people should accept that wages will always play a role in a player’s decision-making. Of course, the wages that are being paid in the Premier League are very tempting. It would be hypocrisy to deny that.

“You have to look at the complete package to determine whether something is right for you. What’s good for you one day will not necessarily still be good for you the day after.”

Spending by English clubs has increased dramatically in the last few years and the Premier League has come under a lot of criticism in recent times. However, Muller can only see the huge investments as positive for football.

He added: “I know that a lot of German clubs are unhappy with the Premier League clubs’ spending, but I think it is something good for all clubs in the end. It can only be a good thing for football when clubs invest so much money.”

Bayern Munich have rebuffed United’s attempts to sign Muller on more than one occasion and the move does look increasingly unlikely. The World Cup winner has been at Bayern since he was a youngster and it would take a lot to lure him away from the Allianz Arena. On the other hand, his comments may give United some hope that, should they offer him enough, there could be a slight chance that Muller could make the switch to Old Trafford.
