David de Gea and Juan Mata ready for Spain clash against Ukraine

David de Gea and Juan Mata are ready for Spain’s clash against Ukraine in their final Euro 2016 qualifier.

Having already sealed their place in France next summer, it’s a game where Vicente del Bosque will be able to try and rotate his squad to see other players in action.

Both De Gea and Mata were left on the bench for the Luxembourg match last week. Mata came on early in the game following an injury to Silva but De Gea had to watch the whole game from the sidelines, and he’ll be desperate for his chance with Spain.

On form, De Gea is Spain’s stand-out first-choice but he has to get in between the personal relationship which Iker Casillas shares with Vicente del Bosque that means the Porto goalkeeper has kept his spot despite leaving Real Madrid.

Starting for Spain in Euro 2016 is one of De Gea’s main goals this year and if he doesn’t get any opportunities to start in goal, it’s going to be difficult for him to force his way into contention, no matter how well he does for Manchester United.

Mata is in a different position. Spain has so many talented midfielders that some inevitably have to be left out but he came on against Luxembourg early on and Silva’s injury means he could start this time around.

If he can take his club form and do it for his country, Del Bosque will have no choice but to start Mata and United fans are certainly hoping he can sprinkle some magic on Ukraine.
