Chelsea and Jose Mourinho are a sorry state of affairs right now, so he probably didn’t have the best of trips to Ukraine to watch them in action against Spain.
Not only did Cesc Fabregas miss a penalty to continue his woeful form in 2015 but when he was substituted by Juan Mata, he handed the armband over to the Manchester United man.
Given how poor Chelsea are at the moment, how much would Mourinho love to have Mata, two time Chelsea Player of the Year, back at the club? They need some sort of miraculous turnaround because everything is imploding at Stamford Bridge. Luckily for Mata, he’s up in Manchester now.

In all seriousness, Mourinho managing to put in a worse title defence at this stage than Moyes says it all and Mata has been a revelation so far this season.
He has made the right-wing position his own and going into a crucial October which sees Man United play against City, CSKA Moscow and Everton, Louis van Gaal will want the Spaniard to maintain the sort of form that has made him one of our most important players up until this point.
