Manchester United’s David de Gea pleased with clean sheet in win against Everton

by Leo Nieboer

David de Gea has expressed his delight after picking up another clean sheet in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The Spaniard was once again impeccable in-between the sticks as Man United romped to their biggest away win in the league this season.

De Gea was hardly troubled in the first half as Louis van Gaal‘s side took full control of early proceedings. His heroics were required in the second half, however, as Everton mounted an onslaught – the 24-year-old’s most notable contribution being his excellent stretch with his feet to stop Romelu Lukaku’s close range drive.

Following the match, De Gea took to Twitter in order to express his joy at the result.

With all the summer transfer window pandemonium behind him, De Gea is now solidifying his status as United’s most valuable asset.

Great goalkeepers stand up when they’re called upon; and very few eclipse De Gea when it comes to producing in vital moments. Indeed, his superb save from Lukaku was pivotal in shaping the rest of the contest.

Today’s success makes it five clean sheets in nine matches for the Spaniard, who seems to be fully focused on fighting for the cause at Old Trafford in spite of everything that happened during the summer.
