The 20-year-old is expected to be out of action for the rest of the season due to the double leg break he suffered off the back of a horror tackle away at PSV. Although he could return before the end of the season, many expect him to take longer in his recover due to the severity of his injury.
However, van Gaal is remaining positive and says Shaw is now actively involved in his rehabilitation every day in training.
“He is already here, he is already walking with a brace, and it is unbelievable,” Van Gaal said.
“Luke is every day here, he has started already his rehabilitation, but he has a long way to go.”
The fact Shaw is in Carrington every day is a testament to his own desire to work hard as he can, as soon as possible, and is also indicative of how good medical rehabilitation is right now.
Within a month of breaking his leg in a double fracture, Shaw is back in Carrington every day working with United’s medical team on his rehabilitation. It’s quite hard to imagine but medically it looks like it is alright for Shaw, even at this early stage of his recovery.
There is a big, long road ahead of Shaw in his chase for full fitness ahead but by the looks of things, his team-mates will be staying as fit as they can in the mean time.
