Everton defender Brendan Galloway has singled out Manchester United he has faced this season, more so than the Reds’ title challengers and local rivals Manchester City.
City are the only other team to beat Everton this season when Alexsandar Kolarov and Samir Nasri scored at Goodison in late August to take them top of the table, where they still sit. United are waiting patiently beneath their local rivals for a slip-up with Arsenal also amongst the main title contenders.
Galloway says despite City being top, United were harder to face because of the strength in Louis van Gaal‘s side.
“I think that United are the best we’ve faced this season,” Galloway said.
“Both have been real, good tests but United on Saturday was tougher because they won most battles, which was disappointing.
“But we need to move on and forget about this one.”
United play ‘noisy neighbours’ City on Sunday in a vital game for both sides, with a win for the Reds taking them above City onto the top of the table, should other results go their way. Meanwhile, a City win would put daylight between the two clubs, allowing City to sit top of the table without the pressure of United right behind.
