Adnan Januzaj is heading to Azerbaijan this week with Borussia Dortmund for their Europa League clash against Gabala.

Currently top of the group with four points from two games, Dortmund will be expected to beat Gabala who are bottom with one point from the same amount of matches.

Januzaj hasn’t featured for Dortmund since a 30 minute cameo in their 5-1 mauling by Bayern Munich, so he’ll be very keen to return to the side on Thursday night.

With only one competitive assist to his name and no goals, Januzaj hasn’t had the greatest of starts to his loan spell at Dortmund in number terms but his performances have actually been quite well.

His focus should be on developing those performances into match changing goals and assists as much as possible, that’s when we’ll see the best of Januzaj as they both bring confidence to a player.

With Jesse Lingard now coming through at Man United, it’s up to Januzaj to make sure he returns to the club after a great season with Dortmund and makes it impossible for van Gaal to give him more opportunities. That’s the only way he’s going to make a name for himself at United because wingers have to deliver match winning contributions.
