Chris Smalling has thanked the supporters who travelled to Russia to watch Manchester United draw 1-1 against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday evening.

Man United were poor in the first half as Seydou Doumbia opened the scoring for the hosts.

However, Louis van Gaal’s side rallied after the break and deservedly equalised thanks to a superb header from Anthony Martial.

Smalling thanked fans and revealed he is looking forward to playing two out of the final three Champions League group fixtures at Old Trafford:

Smalling has been in excellent form as of late and he is quickly becoming one of United’s most important players.

Arguably the best defender in the Premier League right now, Smalling will be looking to keep out Manchester City this weekend. If United secured three points against their ‘noisy neighbours’ it would send a real statement of intent to the rest of the league.
