Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United have been too inconsistent this season.
Man United have put in some superb displays this term, notably against the likes of Everton and Liverpool.
However, their good momentum has often been ruined by displays such as the one in the 3-0 defeat against Arsenal earlier this month.
Ferdinand believes United’s inconsistency is becoming a problem for Louis van Gaal.
“The crazy thing for a United fan at the moment is that you don’t know what team will turn up. The pedestrian one, or the team against Everton,” he said.
On top of the side’s inconsistency, perhaps even more worrying for van Gaal is the fact that United have started almost all of their games this season slowly.
Van Gaal’s possession based system means United often grow into games rather than hitting the ground running and overwhelming their opponents. This was the case against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night as Anthony Martial’s late header rescued a point for United. It is a problem that needs a solution, and quickly.
