Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney was disappointed to only come away with a draw from his sides trip to CSKA Moscow.
Having gone a goal behind after conceding to Seydou Doumbia, Man United got themselves back on level terms through Anthony Martial in the second half. The Frenchman scored a brilliantly placed diving header to ensure that United left the Russian capital with a point.
However, Rooney was ‘gutted’ to not get the win, after United dominated proceedings, especially in the second half. The skipper had a poor game himself, as he struggled to impose himself on an organised CSKA defence and never really seemed to get into the rhythm of the game.
It was yet another poor performance from England’s leading goalscorer who will need to put things right very soon if he wants to keep his place in the team. Fortunately for Rooney, he has a great record against United’s next opponents, Manchester City.
The Sky Blues make the trip to Old Trafford on Sunday and Rooney will be eyeing a goal in a huge clash. Having scored against Everton in United’s last league outing, the 29-year-old will want to get a scoring streak going. Rooney has always been the sort of forward who tends to go on goalscoring runs and he will be hoping his strike at Goodison Park last week is the catalyst for his striking form this season.
