Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne is looking forward to his first Manchester derby since signing for the club.
City make the trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Sunday with just two points separating the sides in the Premier League table.
De Bruyne will be arguably City’s most important player on the day, with both Sergio Aguero and David Silva unavailable for the Sky Blues through injury.
The Belgian has got off to a flying start at City and will be hoping to leave a mark in his first derby.
“I am very excited,” he said.
“These are the moments you live for as a player. There will be a lot of atmosphere. Great games and derbies are the most important games for the fans. Hopefully we can do good on Sunday.”
United are coming into the game on the back of a 3-0 victory against Everton in the league and will want to keep the pressure on their rivals in terms of the title race. Even though we are still in the early stages of the season, it is a huge game between two sides who are expected to go head to head for the title in May.
The Reds will almost certainly have to pay special attention to De Bruyne, who proved at Wolfsburg last year what a fine player he is. However, United will know that if they can keep the 24-year-old quiet and take their chances, they could end the weekend ahead of their ‘noisy neighbours.’
