Manchester United fans left frustrated by Ander Herrera’s display against Manchester City

Ander Herrera was again in the thick of the action as Manchester United drew 0-0 against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Spaniard kept his place in the side after some impressive performances in recent weeks and he started in the No.10 role behind Wayne Rooney. Herrera was unable to make as big an impact as he would have liked in a game of few chances as the teams shared the spoils after a tense 90 minutes.

Man United found themselves dominating the midfield for the majority of the game but struggled to break down a stubborn City defence. The Sky Blues were well organised, making it difficult for Herrera to find space between the midfield and defence.

United supporters were happy to see Herrera start but made their feelings known about how to get the best out of the 26-year-old:

It was the sort of game ruled by both defences and it was obvious that Herrera was desperate to get more involved. However, he was needed more for his defensive duties as the hosts struggled to get in behind City’s back four.

Herrera will hope he has done enough in a tight game to warrant keeping his spot in the team. Having been out of favour earlier in the year, he will be happy to have worked his way back into the side. It will now be his aim to keep his spot for the trip to Crystal Palace next week as United try to get their title charge back on track.
