Bastian Schweinsteiger can’t wait for kick-off in today’s derby against Manchester City.
The 31-year-old played a starring role in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford earlier this season and the derby at home is now one of the biggest occasions thanks to City’s rise over the last few years.
These are the sorts of games which Schweinsteiger wants to be involved in. He’s played in World Cup and Champions League finals, so he won’t be overawed by the occasion and United will need leaders on the pitch today because it’s going to be a tough game.

Although fans would put Schweinsteiger as one of their first names on the team-sheet, there is no guarantee Louis van Gaal will start him with Morgan Schneiderlin, Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera also available or selection in midfield.
You get the feeling that today’s derby could be a cagey affair rather than an explosive and exciting 4-3 classic. United’s style of play this season has been cautiously confident and in such a big game, the sorts who van Gaal has a great record in, he’s unlucky to go all gung-ho and throw caution to the wind.
