Louis van Gaal wants speedy and creative signings for Manchester United

Louis van Gaal is still intent on signing more speedy and creative players in attack for Manchester United.

Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial were brought in during the summer as part of a second bumper spend from Man United following the sacking of David Moyes after a terrible first campaign in charge.

Despite the big spending United have done over the last few transfer windows, van Gaal wants more new signings which could hint towards new arrivals in January.

“I have said we need speedy, creative players in attack. You have seen which players I have bought – but we need more,” van Gaal said.

“I think that all the players I want, want to come. So it is not a question of the players. It is a question of the clubs who are stopping them. I do know the players want to come to Manchester United. And I also think Manchester City.

“I don’t think there is a difference [in size]. United and City are clubs players want to come to.”

Van Gaal clearly hasn’t got the complete squad balance he wants in the side but he’s already made a host of new signings, will he get more backing to bring in even more new faces?

That probably completely depends on where United finish this season. Another fourth place finish won’t fill the Glazers with much confidence in van Gaal whereas a second or third place finish shows progress towards re-gaining that Premier League title overall.

After so much spending so far, the Glazers want results and van Gaal’s got to make sure he delivers on those. If he does, you’d be surprised to see the Glazers not digging deep and giving him another transfer kitty to play with. However, if he doesn’t, I wonder why the Glazers will reconsider his position overall.
