The 19-year-old has scored four goals in nine games and was recently named the PFA Fans’ Premier League Player of the Month for his great form.
After his £36m transfer from AS Monaco the youngster has been key in Man United’s games and has been a made an impact in every single game he’s played, something Rooney certainly hasn’t
In a wide-ranging interview in which he discussed Martial, Rooney said: “I think he has been incredible, how he has come over to Manchester and started the way he has.
“Let’s not forget he is still a very young lad as well. To come over with his young family and start the way he has, he deserves a lot of credit.
“You can see what a good player he is and he’ll be an important player for us from now until the end of the season. He is probably the quickest player in our team, if not the quickest in the league.”
Rooney could do with taking a leaf out of Martial’s book right now because he’s being outshone by the 19-year-old in every single game.
As United’s captain, Rooney should be leading by example but he’s more of a hindrance to our football at the moment rather than an asset and that needs to dramatically change, as soon as possible.
Fans are beginning to run out of patience with Rooney and with Martial biting at his heels, it is surely only a matter of time before he loses his role as United’s main striker on a more permanent basis to the talented teenager.
