Manchester United’s Juan Mata insists he wants to win Capital One Cup

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has insisted he wants to add the Capital One Cup to his trophy collection this season.

Man United face Middlesbrough in the last 16 of the competition on Wednesday at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal’s side were knocked out of the tournament by MK Dons last season and the Dutchman appears to be taking it more seriously this time around.

Mata wants to win the Capital One Cup but warned his teammates that Middlesbrough will be no pushovers.

“This week we have again two games, starting with Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup. They are playing in the Championship, but last season they were really close to be promoted to the Premier League and this year they’re again up there,” Mata wrote in his weekly blog.

“It’s going to be a good rival for us in Old Trafford. I’ve never won this tournament, I hope we can make it this season.”

United should want to win every competition they play in and supporters will expect nothing less than a win against Middlesbrough. It will be interesting to see how much van Gaal rotates his squad, if at all, for the clash.
