Andreas Pereira enjoying life under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has revealed that he is enjoying working under Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford.

The manager took Pereira on the club’s pre-season tour of America and gave him his full competitive debut in the Capital One Cup against Ipswich Town.

Pereira was particularly impressive in that game, scoring a free-kick to open his Man United account.

The Brazilian will be hoping to get another opportunity when Middlesbrough visit Old Trafford in the same competition on Wednesday. Pereira feels that van Gaal trusts him and will be eager to impress if he gets a chance.

When asked about van Gaal, Pereira told manutd.com: “Of course, it’s good to work with the manager here.

“He’ll bring you into the team if you do well and train well. I have a trust with him and it’s a nice feeling to work with someone who will give you the opportunity. If you do something wrong, he will tell you and, if you do something right, he will tell you. He helps you with everything.”

Van Gaal has a reputation of giving youngsters their chance, as he did with the likes of Xavi at Barcelona and Thomas Muller at Bayern Munich. Knowing this, Pereira will know that he is in the right place with the right manager, with United’s reputation of bringing young players through exemplary.

United’s game against Middlesbrough will be the perfect opportunity for van Gaal to prove his trust in Pereira and give him another chance at Old Trafford. Given his talent, there is no doubt the winger has the potential to bring the ‘speed and creativity’ that the manager so desperately wants in the first-team.
