Andreas Pereira has been chosen as the front cover star for Manchester United’s game against Middlesbrough tonight.
The 19-year-old used the Capital One Cup Third Round clash with Ipswich Town as his platform to announce himself to fans with what was a brilliant goal from a free-kick on his full debut.
Tonight, Pereira is expected to be back in the starting XI and plenty of first-team regulars will be rested, so it’s a big opportunity for him to take centre stage again.

I’m a big fan of Pereira. My biggest criticism of his game when he played with the U21s was that he would disappear in matches one week and then be the match winner in the next but he’s really developed himself well over the last 18 months in every respect.
Now, both with club and country having helped Brazil finish second at the U20s World Cup, Pereira is putting in the sort of consistent performances which are needed at the top level.
There’s no doubt Pereira has the talent, what he’s now got to show van Gaal is that he has the temperament and attitude to make it as a top player. Putting in another strong display against Middlesbrough is the perfect way for him to make sure he stays in van Gaal’s thoughts.
