Crystal Palace defender Brede Hangeland is prepared for a potentially “frustrating” game against Manchester United this weekend.
Man United have been criticised for some uninspired football in recent weeks following drab performances against Manchester City and Middlesbrough.
Palace, meanwhile, sit seventh in the Premier League despite losing their last two games against Leicester City and West Ham United.
Hangeland believes Palace could be in for a tough game at Selhurst Park as United keep the ball well.
“They’re a top club and are very hard to face, but it’ll be tough for them as well to come to Selhurst Park,” Hangeland said.
“They keep the ball more than almost any other team in the league and that can be frustrating if you’re defending against them but if you break on them you can be dangerous. It will be interesting to see how that goes.”
Van Gaal has certainly made United hard to beat through a possession based style of play. Some fans would rather van Gaal do away with the tactic as it has produced some turgid football but United are two points off the top of the league and it is unlikely the Dutchman will change anytime soon.
