Matteo Darmian suspended for Manchester United’s game against West Brom

by Sam Peoples

Matteo Darmian is suspended for Manchester United’s game against West Bromwich Albion next weekend after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old now has to serve a one game suspension and that’s a big blow for Man United given that Antonio Valencia is also currently sidelined with an injury.

That leaves Louis van Gaal without his first and second choice right-backs. Paddy McNair is also injured as well, so there are real question marks over who will play there next weekend.

Injuries weren’t a problem for United at the start of this season but they are now starting to cause problems: Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Valencia, James Wilson and Paddy McNair are all injured at the moment, so they are beginning to pile up.

Darmian’s suspension is of course only for one game but with United in a rut with three consecutive 0-0 draws, the last thing we need is one of our best performers this season to now be ruled out to make it that little bit harder.
