David de Gea delighted with all important win over CSKA Moscow

by Leo Nieboer

David De Gea has expressed his joy at Manchester United’s 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

Wayne Rooney‘s 79th minute header signalled an end to Man United’s 404 minute goal-drought and sent Louis van Gaal‘s side to the top of their group with two games to play.

Following three 0-0 draws in a row, it was imperative that United found the net and won tonight. And, in what was a mentally exhausting evening, the Dutchman’s side delivered.

The Spaniard took to Instagram to express his elation at such an important win:

While United have been rightly scrutinised for their lack of attacking potency in recent weeks, many have ignored this impressive stat: in his last five matches, De Gea has only conceded once.

Amidst the growing fury over United’s attacking malaise, the Spaniard has been more or less faultless. He was on hand once again to save his side’s blushes against CSKA, thwarting Seydou Doumbia’s strike after the Ivorian was clean through on goal.

Despite being the centre of the footballing world’s attention not so long ago, the 24-year-old is quietly going about his business at Old Trafford, acting a supremely reliable pair of hands.
