Newcastle United awaiting permission to bring in emergency keeper amid Victor Valdes rumours – report

Newcastle United are awaiting confirmation from the Premier League to bring in an emergency keeper amid continued reports linking Manchester United’s Victor Valdes to the club, according to the Chronicle Live.

Rob Elliot, Tim Krul and Karl Darlow have all picked up injuries, meaning Fred Woodman has been left as the only fit keeper in Newcastle’s squad.

The club have explored the option of bringing in a keeper on loan and are awaiting permission from the Premier League to do so.

Valdes, who has been in limbo at Man United after a falling out with Louis van Gaal, is said to be open to a move.

The Spaniard’s agent, Gines Carvajal, recently insisted that Valdes will leave United in January but Newcastle could look to bring him in earlier.

Valdes has enjoyed a long and successful career at the highest level and it is a shame to see him wallow in United’s reserves. It is unlikely he will ever play under van Gaal again and a move to Newcastle would be good for all parties involved.
