Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has admitted that he would find it difficult to turn down a move to Manchester United or Barcelona.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form for his club this season and has been linked with a transfer to a whole host of top European clubs.
Calhanoglu has been one of Leverkusen’s standout performers this season and would certainly be a great acquisition for Man United.
The attacking midfielder represents Turkey, despite being born in Germany, and is touted to be one of the best up and coming prospects in Europe this season. Still young, Calhanoglu displays a maturity beyond his years on the pitch and his delivery from set-pieces is unparalleled, making his comments about United all the more exciting.
“Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be different to turn them down but I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort.” Calhanoglu said.
It is an interesting thing for Calhanoglu to say, particularly as he only signed for Leverkusen in 2014. The youngster will know that his performances have warranted links with the biggest clubs in Europe as he continues to impress in both the Champions League and the Bundesliga.
United should keep a close eye on the situation as Calhanoglu is definitely a player who would improve the squad. His versatility and ability to make things happen is something the Reds are crying out for and he could be the ideal signing come next summer.
