Ander Herrera happy for Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata after goals against West Brom

Ander Herrera was delighted team-mates Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard after both got on the score-sheet against West Bromwich Albion.

Lingard’s opener broke the deadlock on a very tough afternoon for Manchester United and Mata made no mistake from the spot late on in the game after Anthony Martial was brought down in the box following a surge into the penalty area.

Herrera himself was brought off the bench for Wayne Rooney but he was just happy that Man United picked up another important three points.

Ander has been pretty hard done by in the last few games having been dropped by Louis van Gaal following a sub par performance against Crystal Palace in a match where all of his team-mates underperformed.

Seeing Wayne Rooney get taken off by Louis van Gaal was a relief for many Man United fans but for Herrera, the struggle for regular first-team football at United has come back once again.

It’s been a bit of a repeating pattern for him ever since he joined and now he’s got to, once again, show van Gaal why he deserves to be in the starting XI. Fans want to see him there but as van Gaal has shown on more than one occasion, he’s unlikely to be persuaded against his own decisions simply by public opinion.
