Manchester United defender Luke Shaw could make a miraculous return to football before the end of the season.
The left-back suffered a horrific double broken leg in Septemeber during Man United’s 2-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League and, at the time, was expected to miss the entirety of the season. Players and fans alike were devastated, given the fantastic start to the season Shaw had but it now seems as if he could be on the pitch before the culmination of the campaign.
The Englishman was spotted walking without the help of crutches for the first time since the injury when he attended the United Christmas party and he could now be in line for a return in time for the run-in at the end of the campaign.
According to the Mirror, United’s medical staff are confident that Shaw will take to the field again this season, boosting his chances of making England’s European Championship squad. His displays at the start of the season saw him earn a call-up to the national team and the 20-year-old was expected to be the nation’s left-back at the tournament next summer.
Shaw will know that he has a lot of hard work ahead of him and it is important that he does not get carried away. Rehabilitation from injury is one of the toughest aspects of being a footballer and Shaw still has months of it ahead of him.
He is clearly putting in the hard work already as his recovery seems to be ahead of schedule but there is still a long way to go. However, United fans would definitely welcome him back as soon as possible and, if he does make his return in time, Shaw could be a huge boost going into a title run-in at the end of the season.
