Spanish football expert Graham Hunter believes Cristiano Ronaldo is more likely to join Paris Saint-Germain than return to Manchester United.
Ronaldo’s future has been the subject of speculation lately, with the Portuguese reportedly ready to leave Real Madrid.
PSG and Man United have been touted as potential destinations for Ronaldo, as has a move to the MLS or Qatar.
However, Hunter insisted that Ronaldo would prefer PSG as he would have more chance of winning trophies.
“The Manchester United that Cristiano Ronaldo fell in love with has completely gone,” Hunter said.
“Cristiano’s time of being in the elite three, four, five in the world is dwindling. He will need to be looking at winning things. Is that a guarantee at Manchester United? No.”
While Hunter is right in saying that United are a different club to the one that Ronaldo left in 2009, it is naive to say they aren’t capable of winning trophies anytime soon. Louis van Gaal has done a good job in improving the defence and midfield and Ronaldo, along with one or two other speedy attackers, could be the tipping point United need when it comes to winning titles.
