Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has ruled out the possibility of Adnan Januzaj cutting short his loan at the club.
Januzaj, who joined Dortmund on a season-long loan from Manchester United this summer, has struggled for game time at the Bundesliga side.
Dortmund have been in superb form this term, with their attacking quintet of Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gonzalo Castro and Shinji Kagawa contributing 57 of their 71 goals, and Januzaj has found it difficult to force his way in.
However, Zorc insisted Januzaj will not be sent back to Man United early.
“That’s currently not an issue,” Zorc said.
“We play an extraordinary season, and the others do an incredible job. There is no reason to bench them.”
Januzaj has generally struggled for form ever since his breakthrough season under David Moyes. There is clearly a talented player in the Belgian but he just needs to kick on and make the step up. That being said, he is still young and there is plenty of time for him to develop.
