International round-up: Injury concerns for Smalling and Carrick but Martial shines

by Sam Peoples

Lots of Manchester United players were in action on Friday night with their respective international teams. Here’s a summary of how they all got on.

Anthony Martial – Provided an amazing assist for Olivier Giroud by dribbling past two Germany players before he laid on a ball which the Arsenal striker simply couldn’t miss.

Morgan Schneiderlin – Came off the bench for the final ten minutes, so there’s not much to talk about with Morgan.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – Played the full 90 minutes for Germany but couldn’t help them overcome an impressive France side.

Juan Mata – Played the last 30 minutes or so. Looked as tricky as ever.

David de Gea – He was an unused substitute for Spain so he is still not seen by Vicente del Bosque as the No.1 goalkeeper.

Phil Jones and Chris Smalling – Both started at centre-back but there is concern for the latter after he limped off with an apparent injury in the 84th minute.

Michael Carrick – Real concern over Carrick. He had to leave the field on a stretcher and was seen walking with crutches after the game.

Wayne Rooney – Brought off the bench after England conceded but the closest he got was grazing the crossbar with an effort.

Marcos Rojo – Played the full 90 minutes at left-back in Argentina’s 1-1 draw with Brazil.

Matteo Darmian – Couldn’t stop Belgium running away with a comfortable 3-1 win.

Memphis Depay – Was an unused substitute in Netherlands game with Wales.

Daley Blind – Played the full 90 minutes and did well in a 3-2 win which won’t really change much for Netherlands seeing as they are already out of Euro 2016.
