Manchester United are watching Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie but are yet to make a formal approach for the Scot, according to MailOnline.
Louis van Gaal has often stated that he wants to inject “speed and creativity” into his Man United side and Ritchie is one of a number of names under consideration.
The 26-year-old has impressed for newly-promoted Bournemouth this season and has scored some spectacular goals for club and country.
Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez, Lazio’s Felipe Anderson, Southampton’s Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City and Anwar El Ghazi of Ajax are also on van Gaal’s shortlist of targets for the January transfer window.
A move for Ritchie would come as a shock for United fans but van Gaal seems to know what he is doing in the transfer market.
All of his summer acquisitions, barring perhaps Memphis Depay, have made positive contributions over the course of the campaign. Ritchie wouldn’t be the first name on supporters’ wishlist but if van Gaal thinks he can do a job then he deserves the full support of United’s fanbase.
