France boss Didier Deschamps has confirmed Anthony Martial was ‘in quite a bit of pain’ after suffering a knock to the top of his foot.
The 19-year-old left Wembley on crutches with a bandage around his left foot and he was substituted during France’s match with England after limping for a short period.
Deschamps revealed Martial’s injury in his post-match press conference and as The Telegraph reports, he is now a major injury doubt for the game against Watford this weekend.
“He is in quite a bit of pain,” Deschamps said.
“I think it is a knock to the top of his foot.”
Martial has become the most crucial element of Man United’s attack since exploding onto the scene with his goal against Liverpool and it would be a real blow to even have him missing for just one game.
We’re unlikely to get any confirmation about Martial’s situation until Louis van Gaal‘s press conference on Friday and even then, the United boss may well choose to remain coy about the situation.
