La Liga president Javier Tebas wishes David de Gea played in Spain

La Liga president Javier Tebas has admitted that he wants Manchester United’s David de Gea to play in Spain someday.

De Gea was linked with a move to Real Madrid on the final day of the Spanish transfer window this summer but a deal fell through due to late paperwork.

The keeper then signed a new contract at Old Trafford before his reinstatement into the first-team.

Tebas insisted De Gea would be a quality addition to La Liga.

“[David] de Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and I wish he played in our league, regardless of who for,” Tebas said.

There are rumours that there was a clause inserted into De Gea’s new deal at United which would allow Madrid to go back in for the player next summer.

However, for now, De Gea is a United player. At the very least, the club will be able to get a fairer fee for a keeper who is widely regarded to be one of the best in the world, and there may be a chance that he changes his mind about his future over the course of the campaign and decides to stay.
