Espanyol make offer for Manchester United keeper Victor Valdes – report

Espanyol have submitted an offer to take Manchester United’s Victor Valdes back to Spain in January, according to MailOnline.

Valdes is currently being frozen out at Man United having fallen out with Louis van Gaal and his exit from the club is widely considered an inevitability.

The Spaniard has been forced to train with the youth teams at United and reportedly threatened with a fine if he mingles with the first-team.

Newcastle United were said to be interested in a move for Valdes but Espanyol have made the first move for the keeper.

Valdes has enjoyed a long and successful career having won a number of trophies at Barcelona but that hasn’t translated to anything at United, largely down to the fact his relationship with van Gaal broke down so early on.

It is sad to see his career fizzle out and he deserves first-team football away from United but van Gaal is a manager who sticks by his principles, so Valdes has felt the full force of being on the wrong side of him.

Hopefully he can secure a transfer in the January transfer window as it would make sense for all parties involved. There’s no point United having him on the wage bill given that he’ll never play and as for Valdes himself, he might be able to start playing football again.
