Carrick has been lauded as one of England’s most accomplished midfielders of his generation over the course of his career and clearly he’s made an impression on Wilson.
The 34-year-old has established himself as a key figure for Man United since moving to Old Trafford from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006 and although he hasn’t got the recognition he’s deserved throughout that time, that has changed over the last few years.
Louis van Gaal often speaks about his importance to the current set-up and the Dutchman will be keen for Carrick to return from the injury he picked up in England’s friendly against Spain last week as quickly as possible.
Wilson, meanwhile, has struggled for game time this term despite signing a new contract at the club earlier in the campaign.
It is a difficult situation for the young striker but with leaders like Carrick in the squad, Wilson has a superb crop of experienced players to learn from.
